Visit the City of Cusco and Macchu Picchu if you:

  • You have the time to disconnect for 3 days and connect with the main tourist places in Cusco (Cusco and Machu Picchu).
  • You want to travel on one of the best trains in Peru and enjoy the view of the Valley.
  • You seek tranquility. At this time, fewer people normally come than in the morning.
  • Your hotel is in Cusco and you don’t want to get up early to go out to Machu Picchu. You can take the trains that leave during the morning with peace of mind.
  • If you want to take the best photos. The evening light is spectacular for photographs (“Golden hour”).
  • The weather is generally better in the afternoon except in the rainy season.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Cusco
    • Your visit begins with transfer from the airport to drop off your luggage at the hotel and at 1:00 p.m. The tour will begin through the city of Cusco, also known as the Imperial City and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
    • You will visit the Koricancha Temple, an ancient Inca palace and center of worship for the Sun god, on which the Dominican order built a church that remains standing to this day.
    • You will continue to the Plaza de Armas, where you will visit the Cathedral, the most important Catholic temple in the city.
    • The tour ends by ascending in a van to the Sacsayhuamán Fortress, an impressive example of Inca military architecture and you will visit other places of importance within the Inca culture, such as the archaeological site of Qenko.
    • Finally, the day ends at your hotel.
  • Day 2: Cusco – Machu Picchu
    • Start: We will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco and Ollantaytambo (approximately between 8:45 and 10:30 depending on the location of your hotel) to take you to the Ollantaytambo Train Station.
    • Start of the train trip: The departure from Ollantaytambo Station to Aguas Calientes or Machu Pichu Pueblo will be around 11:15 a.m. on Inca Rail frequency 43. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and a half aboard The Voyager Machu Picchu Train.
    • Arrival at Machu Pichu Pueblo: Upon arrival, our staff will be waiting for you at the Machu Picchu Station. You will have free time to organize suitcases and luggage that are not needed during the visit to Machu Picchu and use of SSHH.
    • Transfer to the bus station: Approximately 30-40 minutes later, you will walk accompanied by your guide to the bus station. Along the way we will tell you the location of restaurants for lunch and how to get to them from the bus station so that you have them located when you return. In less than 5 minutes you will arrive at the bus station.
    • Transfer by Consettur bus: Consettur buses leave recurrently, the common waiting time is between 35 and 45 minutes. Once the journey begins, it will take you 30 to 40 minutes to reach Machu Picchu.
    • Arrival at Machu Picchu: Once up, our staff will organize the group, give some final instructions and begin the fantastic visit to Machu Picchu with our certified guides.
    • Visit: The visit will begin around 2:15 p.m. and will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. On this visit our guides will tell you the stories that only an expert knows, they will give you tips for the best photos and you will be able to get the most out of the visit you dreamed of so much.
    • Return by Consettur bus: Once you have fully enjoyed your visit, the history of the place, the fantastic view and you have recorded everything on your camera, we will begin the return from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes Pueblo. We will be waiting for you around 4:45 p.m. At the Machu Picchu bus stop. We will wait again for the Consettur buses (around 30 – 40 minutes of waiting), once the journey begins it will be a 30-minute journey and you will be back at Machu Picchu Pueblo at 5:30 p.m.
    • Free time: You will have approximately 1 hour to eat something or take a walk around Aguas Calientes Pueblo. We recommend that you start your transfer to the Ollantaytambo Train Station at 6:30 p.m.
    • Return trip by train: at 7:00 p.m. you will board The Voyager Machu Picchu Train, frequency 46, towards Ollantaytambo. You will be back in Ollantaytambo around 8:45 p.m. From there we will coordinate your return to the hotel in the Valley or Cusco.

  • Day 3: Airport
    • Transfer to the airport.

Prepare for your activity

Remember!

  • Recharge the batteries of your camera or cell phone to take the best photos and videos from the moment you are on the train.
  • Bring something to cover yourself as it will be a bit windy.
  • The hike is at altitude so make sure you are comfortable with some physical exercise.
  • Share your experiences so that more people are encouraged to live it!
  • Bring current identification documents because many archaeological sites require them at the entrance.
