Itinerary

The best is yet to come!

  • Day 1: Walk to Humantay lagoon
    • This incredible adventure begins very early in the morning. We will pick you up at your hotel in the historic center of Cusco in the early morning and begin a journey towards the community of Soraypampa, the starting point of your walk.
    • We will continue the journey through the city of Limatambo – located at 2100 meters above sea level – an important access point to the city of Cusco during the time of the Inca Empire. There you will find the archaeological remains of Tarawasi, a place that served as a resting point for those heading to Chinchaysuyo.
    • Then, you will continue the tour along the right bank of the Apurímac River until you reach Soraypampa.
    • When the time comes from this point, you will begin your walk up the mountain towards the Humantay Lagoon. Upon arrival, you will be surprised by the impressive landscapes of this wonderful place and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Before leaving, you will have time to take photos around the lagoon.
    • At the end of the visit, you will walk back to Soraypampa, where transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
    • Some information about the walk:

  • Day 2: Sacred Valley
    • The adventure will begin at 8:00 am We will pick you up at your hotel and begin the trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas while you enjoy the wonderful view.
    • You will visit Chinchero, a small and picturesque Andean town. You will be able to enter the house of a textile artisan, where you will appreciate his original work as well as learn about his techniques and his creative process.
    • Then you will visit the important Inca archaeological center of the town, built at the end of the 15th century, you will also be able to have a panoramic view of its beautiful and traditional church.
    • We will continue our journey to Ollantaytambo, where we will stop at a viewpoint so you can enjoy one of the best views of the Sacred Valley. Get the camera ready!
    • At noon, we will make a stop at a local restaurant where you can have lunch and enjoy Peruvian cuisine (included).
    • Finally, we will arrive at Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire and one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost an important battle. Well known for its platforms, Ollantaytambo was a very effective fortress that also served as a temple.
    • Approximately 8 hours later we will drop you off at your hotel to rest and recharge energy for the Machu Picchu adventure.
  • Day 3: Machu Picchu
    • Today is the day you will visit this great wonder of the world.
    • We will pick you up at approximately 6:20 hrs. to begin the transfer to the Ollantaytambo station.
    • The departure from Ollantaytambo Station to Aguas Calientes or Machu Pichu Pueblo will be around 07:20 hours on Inca Rail frequency 61. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and a half aboard The 360° Machu Picchu Train.
    • After arriving at Machu Picchu Pueblo, the ascent to the Citadel will begin at 8:45 hrs when you begin the journey to take the Consettur bus (once the journey begins it will be a 30-minute journey).
    • The visit will begin around 10:30 a.m. and will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. On this visit our guides will tell you the stories that only an expert knows, they will give you tips for the best photos and you will be able to get the most out of the visit you dreamed of so much.
    • Once you have fully enjoyed your visit, the history of the place, the fantastic view and you have recorded everything on your camera, we will begin the return from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes Pueblo. We will be waiting for you around 1:10 p.m. At the Machu Picchu bus stop. We will wait again for the Consettur buses (around 30 – 40 minutes of waiting), once the journey begins it will be a 30 minute journey and you will be back to Machu Picchu Pueblo at 2:00 p.m.
    • On the way back you will have time to have lunch at the citadel before beginning your return trip (included).
    • Finally, at 4:10 p.m. You will board The 360° Machu Picchu Train, frequency 64, towards Ollantaytambo. You will be back in Ollantaytambo around 5:50 p.m.
    • Finally, we will take you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Prepare for your activity

Remember!

  • Recharge the batteries of your camera or cell phone to take the best photos and videos from the moment you are on the train.
  • The hike is at altitude so make sure you are comfortable.
  • Take into account that very early in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, the weather is cold and during midday until early afternoon it is hot.

  • Bring current identification documents because many archaeological sites require them at the entrance.
