After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the Inca city of Machu Picchu on your own.
We offer you two options to return to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu.
TRAIN OPTION:
You can visit Machu Picchu for longer and have enough time if you are planning to do HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN, which requires a minimum of approximately 3 hours. After visiting the Machu Picchu area for 7 to 8 hours, you must return to the town of Aguas Calientes to take a train at 18:20 to Ollantambo for 1.5 hours then by car to Cusco for 2 more hours to reach Cusco around 10:30 p.m
CAR OPTION:
Arrive at Machu Picchu around 6:00 am for the 2.5-hour guided tour and then have free time to explore the site on your own. If you take this option and you are thinking of doing HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN , it is possible, but you will be too tight and rushed because you have to leave Machu Picchu at 11:30 to walk back to Hidroeléctrica for 3 hours to be at Hidrolectrica at 2:30 pm to take a car for 6 hours back to Cusco. If you are considering doing this option and doing one of the mountains, we recommend staying one more night in Aguas Calientes and returning on day 6 to Cusco by car.
